Ecology and evolution of fungal heavy metal tolerance

We investigate the effects of heavy metal contamination

on fungal diversity and evolution. We study fungi growing

in contaminated soil (such as mine sites) and aim at

understanding the genetic and physiological basis of

fungal heavy metal tolerance.

Fungal thermal adaptation

We are studying the fungi living in thermal soils associated with hot springs in Yellowstone National Park. We are interested in the diversity of thermophilic fungi, as well as the physiological and genetic mechanisms underlying tolerance to hot soils.
